Signs You Need Sewer Line Repair
Multiple fixtures backing up simultaneously — Toilets, showers, and sinks all backing up together means a mainline problem.
Sewage backups — Raw sewage coming up through drains creates health hazards and requires urgent professional response.
Persistent foul odors in your yard — Sewage smell around your foundation signals a broken line leaking underground.
Unusually green or soggy patches in your yard — That lush grass in one spot? It's likely growing on leaking sewage.
Slow drains throughout the house — One slow drain is localized. Every drain sluggish? That's a sewer line issue.

Sewer problems won't fix themselves. Call us today.
What Causes Sewer Line Damage
Tree root intrusion is the number one culprit — roots aggressively seek water, finding tiny cracks and expanding until they block or break the pipe. This is especially common in older homes throughout Nevada City and Auburn with mature trees and aging cast iron or clay pipes.
Other common causes include aging and deterioration (homes from the 1950s–1970s often have original pipes approaching end of life), ground movement and settling, corrosion from natural wastewater acidity, and collapsed pipes from heavy loads or structural failure.
Repair vs. Replacement Options
Video inspection first. We don't guess. A camera travels through your sewer lateral showing us the damage location, cause, extent, and overall pipe condition. This determines whether repair or replacement makes sense.
Traditional excavation. Trenching to access and replace the damaged section with new PVC or high-density polyethylene pipe. Works for any sewer line problem and provides a permanent solution.
Trenchless pipe lining. For pipes that are cracked or leaking but structurally intact, we insert a resin-coated liner that cures in place, creating a new pipe inside the old one. No digging required beyond small access points.
Trenchless pipe bursting. For severely damaged lines, this method breaks apart the old pipe while pulling new pipe into place — full replacement without trenching the entire length.
Targeted section repair. Not every damaged line needs complete replacement. Sometimes replacing just the broken segment while leaving functional pipe intact is the smartest and most cost-effective approach.
